I believe that great success and personal growth can be obtained if you constantly keep challenging yourself.

My childhood, elementary and the greater part of my high school education was received in Cape Town, South Africa. My family immigrated to Vancouver, Canada in 1981, when I was in Grade 11. In high school the elective courses that I took focused on Business Administration. After I graduated from high school I was offered a job at a large national Financial Institution and stayed in this industry for 3 years. I then moved into private corporate business and worked for various companies in a variety of industries including construction, food, automotive, apparel and sporting goods where I stayed for a further 14 years. During this time I reached a senior management level.

After reaching this level I still was not satisfied with my career achievements and continued to set goals for the furtherance of my personal growth and development. I took an in-depth look at who it is I truly am and what truly comes naturally to me and concluded that Hotel Management and Ownership is where my heart is. This was going to be a challenge as I had no hotel experience and knew that even with all the work experience and skills that I obtained during the past 17 years I would have to start at ground level. Even though my skills were transferable but in order to fully understand the flow of business in this industry, it was best to start at the bottom. With this in mind I set out a 10 year plan.

I gained employment in the Hospitality industry by starting at the ground level, went back to school and obtained certification in Hospitality & Tourism Management and graduated with an Honors Diploma achieving a 4.0 GPA. In year eight of being in this industry I was appointed as the General Manager of an 85 All Suite Hotel property with one of the fastest growing Canadian owned hotel chains. Now in year ten of my ten year plan has me touching the brim of ownership by receiving my first Hotel Management Contract with a Global Hotel Brand.

In addition to my Hotel Manager responsibilities, I have been married for 25 years, a mother of a teenage daughter, Editor in Chief of an ethnic community newspaper called The Afro News, Music Director in our church music program participating in the roles as a choir leader, organist, violinist, pianist and choir member.
