Today’s modern workforce requires employees that have an understanding of technology.  Not everyone will be a high-end programmer, however, we all need to be familiar with the technology that we interact with on a daily basis. Upon completion of this course, the successful participant will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:

     – Describe the differences between hardware and software
     – Label common components of a computer, including peripherals
     – Send and receive emails using common etiquette
     – Demonstrate using the internet safely for school-related projects
     – List additional forms of technology that are common in today’s environment
     – Discuss what the future of technology might include

MS Word [$400] 38 hours

This course reviews the Windows 10 platform & file management techniques and then continues to introduce word processing operations, such as creating, editing, file management techniques, and printing text. This course’s emphasis is on formatting and document production techniques to produce professional business documents. Upon completion of this course, the successful participant will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:

     – Utilize the Windows 10 format
     – Demonstrate file management practices
     – Create and editing documents
     – Format and customize documents
     – Collaborate with others
     – Use Tables, Columns & Graphics

MS Excel [$400] 38 hours

This course introduces participants to a common spreadsheet platform.  Participants will review and gain confidence in calculating whole numbers, fractions, decimals and order of operations.  Participants will learn how to organize, create, and modify a spreadsheet as well as entering data in a worksheet using columns and rows, labels, and values; completing worksheet calculations using formulas and functions; and producing professional-looking charts. In addition, the course introduces formatting, sorting, querying, and multi-sheet management. Upon completion of this course, the successful participant will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:

     – Recall primary math functions and order of operations
     – Demonstrate file management practices
     – Create and edit workbooks
     – Demonstrate using formulas and functions
     – Create and edit charts
     – Format, organize and edit data
